Lightening Round Questions
Q: What book has greatly influenced you?
A: Mine! Uncolonized Latinas: Transforming Our Mindsets and Rising Together. For me to learn about the experiences of Afro Latinas and of Latinas born in the US who were translators for their parents was transformational.Q: What is your favorite inspiring quote or saying?
A: The best is yet to come.Q: What is one word or moniker you would use to describe yourself?
A: I see myself as a bridge. I love that I bring people together.Q: What is one change you've implemented that made your life better?
A: I learned that to love myself is a decision. So I put my hand on my heart. I breathe, and I open my heart to feeling love. I allow myself to feel love towards myself and appreciation. And that has been a habit that I do every single day, and that has changed my life entirely.Q: What power song would you want playing as you walk out onto a stage?
A: Fight song by Rachel Platten -
Quotes
I deserve to be successful. I deserve to be here, I deserve to enjoy my life. I deserve to make money. - Valeria Aloe
The best is yet to come. - Valeria Aloe
The mind is very active when you are trying to find inner guidance. Clarity comes from the silence. - Valeria Aloe
When you come from a culture that taught you that you are safer if you make yourself smaller, that if you speak up, you will be in trouble. That if you go for more, that's greed. You have to be thankful for what you already have. That if you rock the boat, you will essentially finish your career. Be silent, be compliant, just work hard, and also, serve everybody else. And that was a big part of why I burnt out.
